Strengthening Communities in Sharrow

Community Engagement

Community Engagement Eid PartyMuch of the work of SCF involves engaging with our communities. A specific strand of this work has been to deliver engagement on behalf of the Sharrow Partnership neighbourhood management pilot.

We employ a range of methods to engage, inform and consult residents about a range of subjects relating to local services. We aim to work closely alongside residents, service providers and local groups to improve communication and make sure people have the opportunity to be active, involved and influential in their community.

We are now entering our third and final year of the pilot, which has seen changing priorities and focus in line with the direction of the pilot as a whole.

Our work to date has seen us use a wide range of engagement techniques, including the use of art and media, and more traditional methods such as surveys, focus groups and research trips.

Our work has included supporting the development of a local neighbourhood warden service by leading on resident involvement, and providing training to build skills and knowledge of how services work through the How Your Neighbourhood Works programme. We build relationships with local people and front line workers, and use our knowledge and expertise to bring people together.

Our key priority for the final 12 months continues to be sustainable neighbourhood based work, working with individuals and groups, to encourage active citizenship and provide opportunities and support for people who want to be involved in their community.
