This Sunday 27th September in the heart of the Sheffield Antiques Quarter the iconic 1920’s Abbeydale Picture House hosts yet another wonderful Vintage Market. As well as stalls selling vintage, retro and local artisan food, top of the agenda will be a 1980s fashion show ‘Sheffield Rocks the 80’s’. The show celebrates this shocking decade: the class, the excess, the rock, punk not to mention the fun and the glamour. It promises a nostalgic flash back at the movies, the TV and the music that influenced mainstream fashion. It has to be one of the most beloved decades in recent history and certainly one in which Sheffield was no shy contender.
To a 21st century eye, some of the fashion of the time may seem a little cheesy and dated and the quarter hopes the crowds will flock to gasp at the wacky hairdos, the leg warmers, the huge earrings, enormous shoulder pads and flashy colours.
Traders will showcase a wide range of wonderful vintage and vintage-style clothes, jewellery and accessories. The event is held inside and out and promises to be another spectacular event in a developing area of the city that has found itself in the past.
Show organised BY Chris Bower (Local Actor) Hair and makeup will be provided by Makeup Lipstick & Rouge new to the quarter and based on Abbeydale Rd. Special appearance by film maker Jon Rosling who will be doing the photo shoot.
